Remodel for Kitchen in Olathe, Kan.

Kitchen - After

Our clients found Design Connection, Inc., on Houzz.com. They were looking to change the cabinet color and find a solution for the island that was functional but did not seem to fit the space. They loved their kitchen table and the appliances worked well for them and were still in wonderful condition. The perimeter cabinets were in great shape but the old maple finish left them feeling as if the kitchen was dated.

Arlene set about designing a new large rectangle island that fit the space perfectly and gave them lots of room for bar stools, other cabinets and a pull out for condiments. This became the focal point of the room and the perfect solution for kids to do their homework and still be with mom and dad.

The old maple perimeter cabinets were painted white. Gray and white Cambria quartz countertops — that are easy to maintain — set the mood for the space. The herringbone pattern in a light gray 2” by 8” tile brought the space up to date.

We added many can lights as well as four pendent lights to add interest and light and to delineated the space.

From the maple cabinets, textured tile and black countertops of 2004 to today’s open airy gray and white kitchen, the space is now being used to entertain and enjoy family and friends.

Design Connection, Inc. provided space planning, countertops, tile, cabinets, light fixtures, electrical outlets and all other installations and project management.
