Whether your laundry room is directly off the garage entry to your home or the master bedroom, it is a room that functionally requires a lot of your time. Why not make your laundry room a place that you want to spend more time in?

This blog post is inspired by the “Laundry Day” article in May’s issue of Spaces KC magazine where a picture of a barn red country style laundry room caught my eye. I’ve heard some designers suggest cool, relaxing tones for a laundry room but I think any color you love that beckons you into the room is the right color for you.

While any color can be used, we think there are some basic design guidelines

1. Assess and use the space you have. Make sure that you are using the space you have efficiently. Do you have access to everything you need? Would a countertop or upper cabinets give you more storage?

2. Hide all the Functional Supplies. One of the most important aspects of interior design is to reduce visible clutter. The cleaner a space looks, the better it looks and the more we want to use it!

3. My final tip is to find products that you like to use, that in some way enhance your experience by using them whether it’s a detergent line that you love the smell of or an organizing tool that makes folding t-shirts more fun and uniform.
